He didn't shrug off the hand, didn't respond at all. He knew. It was a terrible thing to bear witness to, but it was part of the duty of a Warden. Sacrifice. There were far more kinds of it then simply dying to stop a Blight.

It was quick, effective, painless in as much as such a thing could be. No dramatics, only a blade between the ribs, through the lung and heart. He stayed in place after withdrawing the blade, kneeling by the boy. Waiting for Lucanis to say his piece.
