Lucanis was very good at compartmentalization. It was a requirement for being a contract killer, really, even if he was choosier about his targets. But - those red ropes were not metal shackles. The lighthouse was a far cry from the Ossuary. There was absolutely nothing about Davrin that was similar to any of his captors aside from 'male'.

The words were spoken between kisses, between warm laughter as Davrin stripped him of his leathers. They were the extra fancy ones, too, full of hidden catches and some entirely for show fastenings. So much of Crow politics was performance, knowing what they'd be walking into he had selected his armor carefully. Even his under-clothes were nicer than normal, though he'd expected (hoped) only Davrin would be seeing those.
